Scripture…Practical help for daily success

Purity Point

The Purity Point ministry is designed to encourage those seeking a pure heart in Jesus Christ and His Gospel by using the Scriptures in the Bible to challenge us to grow in Spiritual maturity, daily prayer, and daily application to our lives.

There are 31 daily encouragements and various projects to encourage you along the journey. It is best to take one encouragement a day and apply that one. Then move on to the next and attempt to put all of these into practice. Click on the link on the top of the box to read the full days journey as well as listen to the sound bite that goes with that day’s lesson.

Day 1 – Purity is the Foundation of Society The need for purity underlies all of society. Not only is purity the foundation for an orderly and peaceful society, it is a necessity for a Christian’s spiritual health.

Day 4 – Meditate on God’s Word Day and Night – The clear promise of Scripture is that we will be successful if we meditate on God’s word day and night.
Day 7 – Remove any Provision for the Lust of the Flesh – “These steps don’t work!” protested one young man with whom I was working to obtain moral purity. I told him that he might be the first person I knew of with whom these steps didn’t work, but just to confirm it could I ask him a few questions? He said I could.
Day 10 – A Pure Heart and the 10 Commandments – If you study just a little, you can see that moral impurity and lack of a pure heart breaks all 10 commandments.
Day 13 – How Many Days Do You Have to Strive for Purity? – I was told years ago that the inventor of the seat belt died in an automobile accident. It is reported he was not wearing his seat belt.
Day 16 – Confess Generational Sins – Daniel was a man of God and we can learn an important principle of warfare from him to help us obtain a pure heart.
Day 19 – Purity and Charity – Charity flows from a pure heart. The charity spoken of in the bible is genuine love.
Day 22 – Purity and One Man For One Woman for One Lifetime – Somehow we have the idea that in our culture before marriage we can “play the field” “date around” and “have a good time” and then one day “settle down”.
Day 25 – Purity and Music – When you think about pornography, you usually associate it with an image. But pornography can be in words as well. Much of the popular music today is nothing more than immoral material in words. And when you put bad words to bad music that makes the influence it has even worse.
Day 28 – Purity and Heredity – We easily recognize that physical traits can be passed down, so we should recognize spiritual traits are also passed down.
Day 31 – Purity and a Pig – A pig loves to wallow in the mire, and even if you clean him up, he will return to the mire. These Purity Points are not designed to make you a Christian, but to help a Christian be pure in heart.
Day 2 – Blessed are the Pure in Heart – There are many rewards for purity of heart. One that comes to mind is “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” This verse has a double meaning. Blessed are the pure in heart for one day they will see God.
Day 5 – Purpose to Quote Scripture When Tempted – We can know to quote Scripture when tempted, but must actually do it to succeed. It is important to memorize large portions of Scripture, and to meditate day and night.
Day 8 – Be Under God’s Ordained Authority – Many times those who are struggling with moral impurity are out from under God’s ordained structure of authority.
Day 11 – The Eyes Have It – William Gurnall said “Set a strong guard about thy outward senses: these are Satan’s landing places, especially the eye and the ear.”
Day 14 – It is Good For A Man Not to Touch a Woman – I Corinthians 7:1b says, “…it is good for man not to touch a woman.” Do you realize the power of a touch? An improper touch could set off a chain of events that could end in moral failure. Playing with dynamite is dangerous and can set off a chain reaction.
Day 17 – Pray A Hedge of Thorns for Purity – Hosea was an Old Testament prophet whose wife left him and fell into harlotry. Hosea was determined to get her back. He prayed an hedge of thorns around her. Hosea prepared to minister to her spiritual needs when she returned; and she did!
Day 20 – Purity and Clean Hands – Psalm 24 lists four characteristics of those who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord and those who will dwell in His holy place. The first two listed are “he that hath clean hands and a pure heart;”
Day 23 – Purity and Never Giving Up – In our striving for purity we should never give up. Always keep fighting.Scripture makes it clear that we will fall but we should get up again. Proverbs 24:16 says that a “…just man falleth seven times and riseth up again…”
Day 26 – Purity and A Strange Woman – You have to be so careful of your conduct in order to maintain a pure heart. Proverbs 4:23 encourages you to “Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.”

Day 29 – Purity and Crying Out – We need the Lord’s help to be pure. We can pray and ask and we should. Yet, we need to be so desperate for purity that we cry out for help.
Day 3 – Memorize Large Portions of Scripture – By God’s wonderful design, what you think in your heart will come out in your life. Therefore it is imperative for purity that you think right thoughts.

Day 6 – What It Means To Be “In Christ” – There is confusion among Christians today regarding what it means to be “in Christ.” Scientists now tell us they can trace DNA back multiple generations. This confirms Scripture that states you and I were in Adam. Your DNA was in your father Adam, and when he sinned, you and I sinned.
Day 9 – Be Alert to the Promptings of the Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is a Person who dwells in you when you accept Christ as your Savior. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and will verify the words and ways of Jesus. The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness, Paul on his travels and wants to guide you.
Day 12 – Pornography is not the Problem – Pornography has been linked to so many violent crimes including mass murders, school shootings, sexual crimes and abuse. No doubt it is one of the leading causes of broken relationships and divorce.
Day 15 – Fasting and Purity – We have three basic drives, the physical, the psychological and the spiritual. God designed the spiritual to be the strongest and wants us to have the physical and psychological under control by developing disciplines.
Day 18 – Purity and Humility – Purity and humility go hand in hand. Other people resist our pride, so it is no wonder that God especially does. In fact, Scripture says, “God resisteth the proud but giveth grace to the humble.”
Day 21 – Purity and Perfection – God expects perfection. In Genesis 17:1 God says for Abraham to walk before Him and be perfect. Jesus said the same thing in Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.”
Day 24 – The Heart Can Think – The Bible says that “as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” Until recently most thought the heart was just a muscle that pumps blood. Well now Scientists have documented what God already knew and said was true. The heart does think.
Day 27 – Purity and Accountability – One of the most important principles in trying to obtain and maintain a pure heart is to become accountable to God-given authority. As I was struggling with impurity I went to my parents and shared discreetly with them that I was having problems and needed help. And it did help.
Day 30 – Purity and Knowledge – In order to have a pure heart, you have to have the “want to” and the “know how”. The “know how” is very important. In Hosea 4:6, God said that His people were destroyed for lack of knowledge. This is happening to Christians today.
